Healthy LifeStars® is a non-profit organization that is launching a generation of healthy kids through its innovative LifeStar ChallengeTM program and its broad reaching Together CountsTM program. Healthy LifeStars’ unique mission is to motivate and educate kids, especially those in underserved areas, to commit to live active, healthy lives now and for the rest of their lives. The goal is embodied in the tagline “Inspiring Kids for Life”.
A passionate group of volunteers founded the nonprofit in 2003 after their research identified the alarming growth trend in childhood obesity.
With a big vision of bending the obesity curve downward, they partnered with leading health care organizations to develop, evaluate and refine the evidence based LifeStar Challenge™ program to help kids and families prevent obesity.
We kept the cost per kid served low by delivering their program though schools and other youth serving partner organizations. The impact has grown from a few hundred kids the first year of the program to some 15,000 this year and over 75,000 kids served to date.
In 2019, the award winning Together Counts™ resources were added to Healthy LifeStars. The standards-aligned materials and curriculum have reached nearly 50 million students and over 400,000 social media followers since 2010.
To motivate and educate kids to live active, healthy lives now and in the future.
