Internships are currently available in the Phoenix office, where a majority of the work can be done remotely. Interns are asked to commit at least 10 hours per week. Course credit is available. All internships are unpaid and have an immediate start-date.
Interns assist in a wide range of tasks including communications, media relations, public awareness, research, program development, marketing and overall support. Internships may also include event planning, web design, writing projects and occasionally a special project. Staff is always available to provide support and guidance. This internship will provide students with a solid portfolio piece and experience in real-world project development and management in a small, growing non-profit environment. Interns have the opportunity to participate in site visits, celebratory events, fundraisers and other events related to our mission.
We currently have three internship opportunities.
- Marketing and Communications Intern: This intern will be responsible for developing and running our social media campaign; designing and updating marketing materials; working hand-in-hand with our PR specialists and agency, and helping to develop and execute a marketing plan to gain awareness and support for our large annual fundraiser called StepUp4Kids.
- Grant Planning, Research and Writing Intern: This intern will gather and organize prior grant submissions and responses; conduct research into grants with a significant likelihood of success; prepare calendar of grant proposals; and support staff and Program Committee to write grants. This is a great hands-on experience for anyone who is interested in working for a non-profit organization.
- Web Developer Intern: We are looking for a creative and technical intern who has the vision and aptitude to help us redesign the look and feel of our website to generate more awareness of our mission, highlight the success of the organization, and create a simple, lead generation tool. This intern will be responsible for developing our web strategy and then executing to reflect our needs. This intern would work closely with our Executive Director and Marketing Committee to ensure alignment of the web content with ongoing marketing efforts. Must be familiar with WordPress.
